On Friday, July 23, the Hon. Member of Parliament for North Dayi Constituency, Joycelyn Tetteh, organized a spelling bee competition for primary and junior high school students within the Vakpo Educational circuit of the North Dayi District in the Volta region of Ghana. Kumah Matilda of Cornerstone Junior High School and Shantel Dzontoh of Vakpo Dunyo D/A were adjudged Overall Best Spellers for the primary and junior high school, respectively. The winners took home cash prizes, school bags, books and pens.


#JoycelynTettehSpellingđcompetition is a component of the EDU-RIGHT initiative facilitated by the Hon. MP for North Dayi Constituency, Joycelyn Tetteh. According to the lawmaker, the EDU-RIGHT initiative seeks to âeducate the future leaders of the North Dayi Districtâ. She further stated that the spelling bee competition seeks to encourage learning and enhancing the usage of the English language and the Ewe indigenous language amongst students.


#JoycelynTettehSpellingđcompetition was witnessed by Chiefs and Elders of the Vakpo Traditional area, the Ghana Education Service, parents, teachers, students and community folks.
#JoycelynTettehSpellingđcompetition is expected to be organized in all six(6) educational circuits within the district. It has since been organized for schools in the Sabadu Aveme circuit and Vakpo circuit, with four (4) remaining circuits expected to benefit from the competition in the coming days.


Winners from the Sabadu Aveme and Vakpo circuit are currently in waiting for the grande finale which will be organized after the competition has been held in the remaining circuits. The grand finale will involve winners from the various educational circuits within North Dayi District, who will contest for the ultimate prize which will be a fully funded education scholarship package from the current educational level to the university.


Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh presented books and pens to all contestants for their efforts throughout the competition and encouraged them to continue to excel academically for there are more academic engagements in store for them. â This competition is going to be held every year so do not give upâ
