Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh launches women initiative called “NYORNUWO MITSO”

During the weekend, Member of Parliament for North Dayi Constituency, Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh, kickstarted her women-centered development initiative, dubbed “NYORNUWO MITSO” meaning “WOMEN ARISE”.

“NYORNUWO MITSO”, a community outreach initiative, seeks to educate and empower women across all traditional areas within the North Dayi District of the Volta region. It is a comprehensive initiative, consisting of among others, financial aid and literacy programs, reproductive health and rights, particularly menstrual hygiene and teenage pregnancy.

The first edition of “NYORNUWO MITSO” was held on Saturday, at Tsyome Sabadu. Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh, led a team of information resource persons, to provide education on teenage pregnancy and menstrual hygiene. This was also to observe World Menstrual Hygiene Day which was on Saturday, May 28, 2021. Women and children were educated on how to maintain personal hygiene during menstrual cycles.

The gathering witnessed a huge number of women and children within the Sabadu traditional area. In addition to the education on menstrual hygiene was financial aid and literacy. The lawmaker presented cash and provided education on safe investments and money keeping habits as her contribution towards the total realization of economic development amongst women in her constituency.

“NYORNUWO MITSO” is expected to be uniformly embarked on in the North Dayi constituency. It will be launched across all other traditional areas namely ; Wusuta, Vakpo, Anfoega, Tsrukpe, Botoku, Tsoxor, Aveme, and Awatey.
